 5 Sons Naturescapes is beginning its tenth season this spring. Our business started with one landscaper, a lot of family support, and a dream. Our office space is located in Winterset, Iowa.

    Eric, the father of the five sons, and the oldest son, Brady, started dreaming about their own landscaping company quite a few years ago. Eric has a forestry degree from Iowa State University. He always contemplated starting a business but his military commitments kept him from pursuing his dream. Brady worked for a landscaping company for several years during his late teens. He contemplated a degree in landscape architecture but decided to enlist in the Army. In 2009, a friend approached them about doing a project and they accepted the challenge. 

    Eric and Brady ended up being sent to Afghanistan in 2010 for a year which put their business idea on hold. When they returned, Brady went back to college and placed an ad on Craigslist for side jobs in landscaping. He spent a few dollars out of his pocket to purchase a wheelbarrow and pillaged all the family garages for tools he could use. He worked by himself in the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area to support himself while he finished his degree. The business was officially formed after that first season in April of 2013.  The name was derived from the simple fact that Eric and Monica have five sons. Over the next few years the entire family, including daughter-in-laws, helped to build the business and work for the business in one capacity or another and we are very grateful for all of their help. Currently, Brady, Logan, and Eric are owners and Monica, the mom of the five sons, manages the office while Becca, Brady's wife, helps out between managing their five young children. 

    We offer a wide range of high quality hardscape services to include paver patios and sidewalks, retaining walls, premium boulder walls, window wells and more. When planting a landscape we are passionate about providing natural solutions incorporating native plants and shrubs to draw in beneficial insect species, helping to create a lush and full landscape for our customers to enjoy for many years. We are environmentally friendly and seek to use products that protect our environment like Biosol and Ecosalt.

 Brady, the oldest son, has a natural talent and eye for hardscapes including retaining walls, boulder walls, and patios. He is a certified paver installer and thoroughly enjoys the design and build hardscape process. Logan, the third son, has a talent for implementing the vision of each of our customers and is directly involved in the build and maintenance processes for our customers. Eric, the father of the five sons, provides our tree knowledge and is an expert in perennial plant, shrub and tree care. He works with urban and rural landowners and is passionate about prairie restoration and conservation. Their passion along with their complimentary and combined talents drive our business.
